MATH 1005: COLLEGE ALGEBRA
  • Primary Instructor (Responsible for all course-related duties)
The content in a college algebra course centers on algebraic relationships, functions and graphs. Students learn to solve for one or two unknown variables in a variety of complex equations. They also learn to graph intermediate-level algebraic functions, such as single-variable polynomial functions. Topics covered include but not limited to quadratic and rational inequalities, linear and quadratic variables, remainder and factor theorems and exponential and logarithmic functions.
MATH 1380: CALCULUS AND MATRIX ALGEBRA FOR BUSINESS
  • Teaching Assistant (Responsible for leading discussion sections, writing and grading quizzes, grading homework, leading review sessions, and holding office hours : 1 section)
This course includes mathematical problems arising in management and economic sciences and is intended for those planning to major in business. Topics include Quantitative methods for treating problems arising in management, economic sciences, related areas; introduction to differential and integral calculus, systems of linear equations and matrix operations. Examples in business are used to motivate the mathematical presentations.
MATH 1440: MATHEMATICS FOR THE BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES
  • Teaching Assistant (Responsible for leading discussion sections, writing and grading quizzes, grading homework, leading review sessions, and holding office hours : 3 sections)
This course consists largely of precalculus topics, but also includes a substantial treatment of probability. The "precalculus" topics include relations, functions, coordinate systems, graphing, polynomials, trigonometric functions, and logarithmic and exponential functions. Probability topics include random experiments and random variables, algebra of sets, methods of enumeration, sampling, conditional probability, and distributions of discrete types. Examples and applications are chosen from the biological sciences.
